My work has evolved from a continued desire to utilize the power of simple acts, gestures and processes in order to create art. Through the use of elemental forms and processes these drawings and sculptures for me are in one sense a simple and direct process. Yet my desire to create work that is not grounded in an overt set of conceptual or aesthetic concerns has resulted in a body of work that might be described as oblique. I hope this desire might at times serve as a reflection or rumination on the nature of consciousness, perhaps an ontological inquiry of sorts. As the most fascinating part of life for me has been the intangibles that pleasantly (and sometimes not so pleasantly) haunt me, my art has evolved into a continuum of questions...parallel explorations of the self, of senescent concerns, memory and aesthetics.
